This was revealed a few weeks earlier, but YPG and its deals site RedFlagDeals today formally announced they were going to launch a deal of the day in Canada:

I don’t know the precise numbers but there’s quite a bit less competition in the segment in Canada than in the US. If you missed our webcast last week on daily deals there was great data and discussion, including the following provocative data collected by Yipit:
This is based on limited SMB survey data but raises the question of the impact of the daily deals model on the local market more broadly. Scarcity — not providing access to too many deal opportunities — is one key to preventing cannibalization of traditional ad offerings. However Yipit’s Jim Moran discussed how some SMBs were going from service to service in an effort to gain access to more deal channels.

Greg, if you are looking some data regarding Groupon’s numbers in Canada, I have a couple of posts on my blog. They are hitting some pretty decent numbers. Living Social is also in Vancouver and Toronto and I can tell you they are pacing faster than Groupon was in Toronto and Vancouver.
August – when they hit $2.5M gross

Well those are the top two in the US market as well. I knew that Groupon was there but had not remembered that LivingSocial was there as well.
