StepRep Creator Adds Daily Deal Option

SMB reputation management software (StepRep) developer Vendasta has now created a daily deals offering. This makes sense; one could argue that loyalty and new customer acquisition tools are extensions of or complementary to reputation intelligence.

Vendasta co-founder Ches Hagen told me in a call recently that the company built the deals software in response to partner requests. It now has a few companies using or evaluating the new deals software in Canada — and so Vendasta joins the growing list of white label daily deals platforms.

In our recent webinar on daily deals we discussed that the next big wave of adoption of deals would come from traditional publishers with established local sales channels. YPG, Yellowbook and McClatchy (among others) are early adopter examples of a burgeoning trend there.

I often get questions about vendors in segments like SEM and reputation management — and soon deals probably. Companies and publishers working in local are having trouble evaluating all the companies in these segments. I can report from personal experience that the Local SEM platform space is extremely difficult to evaluate. And I’ve done a considerable amount of “due diligence” there.

Vendasta’s Hagen said that in the calls and pitches around reputation management, with traditional publishers, they often find themselves in a consideration set with Marchex and Yellowbot primarily.
