Crocs — the shoe maker — is offering a fairly aggressive exclusive discount (30%) at all its owned retail locations through The Dealmap. This offer will get exposure and distribution through all The Dealmap’s channels and partner sites so it’s “like totally cross channel and cross platform” — as one might say.

Indeed: online, social and mobile will all be included here. This is a national brand using deals to drive people into local retail outlets — the part of “local” that’s often neglected in the discussion.

This is what retailers have been doing for years through traditional mechanisms such as newspaper circulars and TV (e.g., “Labor day sale at all X locations”). However, the social and mobile aspects of this promotion make it more interesting and different than a newspaper circular or conventional TV ad.
